School canteen service
The Foundation Benvenuti in Italia promoted a comparative research concerning differing ways through which the school canteen service is provided in Italy*. Turin and Milan municipalities allow the families of children attending schools in asking for special diets for both cultural (and religious) and pathological reasons. In Albenga (Savona) the National authority for animal rights (ENPA) strongly opposed halal meat offer in school canteen menus, because of ethic reasons. The School Canteen service Cir Food Company (Reggio Emilia) included religious days, during which it is possible to ask for ethnic foods.
