Maciej Potz

Maciej Potz is a political science professor at the Department of Political Systems, Faculty of International and Political Studies, University of Łódź. In 2021-22, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Stanford University, working on a project on costly signalling in religious communities.
His research interests include politics and religion (both the impact of religion on secular political actors and the internal politics of religious organizations), sociology of religion and political theory. He is also keenly interested in the impact of recent technological and social developments on the future of politics.
Currently, Potz is the PI of a research project on power in Catholic monastic institutions (Monastic politics : power and status in religious orders) financed by the Polish National Science Center.
