Outside the realm of universities
The Philosophical-Theological College Benedict XVI is a college of the Roman Catholic Church in the Cistercian monastery Stift Heiligenkreuz. It does not possess the right to confer doctoral or post-doctoral degrees and is primarily dedicated to the education of future priests of the Roman Catholic Church. It provides state- and church-recognised studies in Catholic theology and is associated with a seminary for religious clergy.
The Catholic Institute of Theology ITI (formerly: International Theological Institute - College of Catholic Theology) is a Pontifical Institute for the study of Catholic theology with a special focus on the topic of marriage and family, located in Trumau Castle. In 2009 the college moved to Trumau Castle and the name was changed to "International Theological Institute - College of Catholic Theology". The current version of the statutes of the institution, now called "Catholic University ITI", was approved by the Holy See on 26 January 2021. A specific feature of the ITI is that it combines the ecclesial traditions of the East and the West.
