  • Capital: Belgrade (1.681.405 inhabitants)
  • Territorial division: 29 districts, 2 provinces, 5 regions, 145 municipalities, 28 towns, and the City of Belgrade (special territorial unit with 17 municipalities)
  • Main cities: Novi Sad, Priština, Niš, Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Kruševac, Subotica, Sombor
  • Official language: Serbian
  • Other minority languages: Albanian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Bunjevac, Croatian, Czeck, German, Hungarian, Macedonian, Roma, Rumanian, Pannonian Ruthenian, Slovakian, Ukrainian, and Vlach
  • Main national group: Serbs (80.64%)
  • Other ethnic groups: Hungarians (2.77%), Bosniaks (2.37%), and Roma (1.98%), while all other ethnic groups account for less than 1% (Albanians, Slovaks, Croatians, etc.)

Religious situation: according to the Serbian Constitution, no state or compulsory religion exists, and all churches and religious communities are separated from the state. Serbs are predominantly Orthodox (84.59%), and the Serbian Orthodox Church is the largest and most visible to the public. According to the 2011 Census, there were 84.59% Orthodox, 4,97% Catholics, 3.10% Muslims, 0.99% Protestants, 1.11% atheists.
